Tyler Howell



Tyler is a litigator and transactional attorney with a diverse civil practice focusing on defending construction defect claims, drafting construction agreements, and negotiating business and real estate transactions.

Prior to joining Smith Freed Eberhard, Tyler worked as an associate attorney at a general practice firm in Yakima, Washington, where he gained experience in State, Federal, and Administrative Courts practicing general civil law with an emphasis in litigation, construction, real estate, business, and insurance defense.

During law school, Tyler developed an enthusiasm for civil litigation through his work as a clerk at a Spokane, Washington firm, and later as a clerk for the Public Counsel section of the Washington State Attorney General’s Office in Seattle. At Public Counsel Tyler advocated for the interests of consumers of investor owned utility companies.

Before his enrollment in law school, Tyler served as the Development Manager at an international land development company where he negotiated commercial purchase and sale agreements for office, industrial, and mixed use developments, conducted feasibility studies, and managed development projects through all phases. He also became the company’s first Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Accredited Professional. Previously, he worked for two of the region’s largest commercialreal estate brokerage firms in Seattle and Bellevue, Washington, representing office landlords and tenants in complex lease negotiations and strategic planning throughout the greater Puget Sound. He also has hands on construction experience that allows him to more fully understand complex construction related issues his clients face.
