Bruce’s practice focuses on construction defect litigation. He is a lead member of Smith Freed Eberhard’s Construction and Development Group. His legal experience includes defending general contractors, subcontractors, and construction professionals with respect to landslide claims, EIFS claims, multi-family homeowner association litigation, general building envelope claims, Employer Liability Law (ELA), and mold claims.
Bruce’s pre-law background includes graduating with honors in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Washington. This technical expertise proves beneficial when representing contractors and construction professionals.
Bruce has won several summary judgment motions dismissing six-figure claims against general contractors. He has represented contractors before the Court of Appeals and established important legal precedents for construction defect issues. See Quail Hollow West Owners Assoc. v. Brownstone Quail Hollow, LLC, 343 Or. 115 (2007); Harris v. Suniga, 209 Or. App. 410 (2006). He has also defended multiple personal injury and construction defect arbitrations such as brain injury claims and representing general contractors in construction defect cases.
