Expertise Overview
Amber is an associate on Ryan McLellan and Josh Hayward’s team providing defense for insurers and their insureds in complex litigation suits. Amber’s practice focuses on automobile accidents, catastrophic injuries, wrongful death, premise liability, products liability, and construction and jobsite injuries.
Prior to joining Smith Freed Eberhard, Amber served as a pro bono attorney with the Small Business Legal Clinic and law clerk at a plaintiff’s personal injury firm in Beaverton, Oregon.
While attending law school, Amber won awards for her legal writing and pro bono service. In addition to her full time class schedule, Amber worked as a teaching fellow tutoring first year law students, interned at the Small Business Legal Clinic serving low income businesses, and was a research assistant to three professors at Lewis & Clark Law School.
Before embarking on her legal education, Amber worked as a civil litigation paralegal on breach of contract, insurance subrogation, foreclosure, construction defect, and creditor’s rights claims.

Personal Life
When away from her desk, you can find Amber volunteering with foster children at DHS Child Services, outside hiking trails with her dog, exploring Portland’s diverse food scene, or binge watching the latest Netflix series.
