Smith Freed Eberhard is proud to announce the 7th anniversary of the firm’s black belt trial academy. We have graduated more than 50 attorneys through the program and have updated and optimized our training to include the most innovative trial techniques.
In today’s legal environment, settlement, mediation, and arbitration have become commonplace. Litigators who wish to become battle-tested trial lawyers have limited opportunities to develop and test their trial skills. The Black Belt Trial Advocacy Training Program was created to provide attorneys with the necessary hands-on training to gain effective and proven trial techniques to improve all aspects of their trial preparation and presentation skills.
The program consists of attorneys with all skill sets and backgrounds. Both new attorneys and seasoned litigators will benefit from attending this program. Smith Freed Eberhard also opens the program to any in-house counsel attorney.
The Program is based on Herbert J. Stern’s, “Trying Cases to Win Trial Advocacy Series.”
A first degree “Black Belt” can be achieved by attending the trial advocacy training sessions, the winning communication workshop and preparing and presenting two opening statements that will be given in front of a mock jury and review panel.
- The training will be limited to 12 total participants.
- Participants must fill out the attached application to be considered for the program.
- Students that complete the program will receive 24 OR or WA CLE credits.
