Ryan specializes in defending a wide range of personal injury claims and has significant representation in construction and job-site injuries, automobile accidents, catastrophic injuries, wrongful death, premise liability, and products liability.
Prior to joining Smith Freed Eberhard, Ryan gained his insurance defense experience working at law firms in Eugene and Portland, Oregon. While attending law school, Ryan served as an associate editor of the Oregon Law Review, preparing articles for publication and conducting associated research.
Ryan has prepared and argued multiple successful motions for summary judgment related to construction and jobsite injury claims. Ryan also has litigation and trial experience in defending bodily injury and wrongful death claims involving commercial claims and auto accidents.
Most recently, in October of 2023, Ryan tried the $3.5 million Multnomah County Circuit case of Hammond v. Classic Hwy LLC, et al. to a jury with an excellent verdict.
