2019 marked the firms 32nd year of conducting business. While 32 years may not be considered to be an iconic celebration such as an organizations 25th, 50th or centennial celebration, our 32nd year was the most transformational within the history of our firm. Leadership author, John Maxwell, has been quoted with the saying that “change is inevitable, growth is optional“. Growth is key to improvement and I can see beliefs and behaviors already taking shape this year that will enhance our legal mastery, communication, client service and firm culture.
One of the most exciting and significant changes, taking place on April 1st, 2020, is our move to a new office space. 2019 marked the final year of the firm’s twelve year lease of our Portland, Oregon office. We first entered into the 43rd floor of the U.S. Bancorp tower, or “Big Pink” as the building is often referred to, in January of 2008.
For those that have spent a decade working in the same location it can often parallel the experiences you have with your personal residence. All of us have wonderful memories that reside within the offices, conference rooms and other shared spaces. We say good bye to “Big Pink” and move south within downtown Portland, Oregon to our new space.
One feature that excites us about the new office space is that we’re is just two blocks from the new Multnomah county courthouse in Portland, Oregon. You can learn more about the new Multnomah courthouse.
As trial lawyers it is a benefit both psychologically and physically to have ease of access to your arena. We are excited to continue to refine and develop the art of trying cases at the new Multnomah county courthouse. Our new office will be located at: 111 SW Columbia St, Suite 800, Portland, Oregon 97201.
Preparing to change our physical office location provoked us to look internally at our Vision, Mission and Values. Each year and with each new employee we hope to continue to develop and improve to better serve our clients, community and employees. What can get lost over a period of time is the “why” behind the firm’s goals, the core beliefs and behaviors that the firm must hold its self to and how our brand is viewed by our clients, community and employees. As you could imagine this process took several months and required the participation of the entire firm, our clients and business partners. All of the time and focus was worth it. I want to share with you the core beliefs, values and reputation that we as a firm believe and live by.
We believe that: Every Problem Has A Solution.
Our Values as a firm rest in the idea that we are One Firm, One Team with One Direction through:
– Cultivation
– Collaboration
– Compassion
– Community
We will continue to uphold our reputation by providing our customers with the peace of mind they need to be successful. We do that by delivering:
– Early Case Resolution
– Timely, Reliable and Straight Forward Reporting
– Precise Budgeting and Budget Management on all Cases
– Upfront and Accurate Case Evaluations
– Strategic Focus on Playing to Win
These tenets are at the core of who we are and how we conduct business.
With the remodeling of the inside we decided to remodel the outside as well. We launched a newly designed website and content platform. We are proud of the hundreds of legal resources we have developed and published over the last decade. Our resources cover Oregon and Washington case law and legal training topics through publishing legal Case Updates, Webinars, Law Blog, Summaries of Law and more. You can access our resources here. We hope you find the website and legal resources valuable. We love to present and share the law. If you and your organization would like to discuss having one of our attorneys present at your office or via webinar please reach out and let me or the attorney whom you would like to present know.
2020 is going to be our best year as a firm. I personally have 32 years of deeply held gratitude for you, our clients, our talented employees and hard working business partners. Please don’t hesitate to contact me if we can apply our model to help you and your organization solve your legal problems.
